I understood shipments would arrive possibly as soon as starting Sunday. Even though a pier isn’t finished yet shipments can be brought in as that is happening….any news on this yet?
Thank you, Patricia. I believe a ship did start unloading today (Friday) with 200 tons of food. There is apparently another ship getting loaded that will have around 300 tons of food. From what I can tell, this is welcomed progress as it buys us some time to get to a longer solution. However, the organizations (Open Arms and World Central Kitchen) can't continue the aid long-term.
I think the situation is to avoid famine, we need to get as much food and water is as we can in a matter of a few days. Excited to hear they are getting food in and hoping to get more relief in the days ahead. We will have to keep watering it 🌱
